Basketball Recap: Woodson Comes Up Short

Woodson lost against West Potomac last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Woodson Cavaliers were outmatched by the West Potomac Wolverines and fell 59-32. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Wolverines are ranked eighth).

It was another big night for Olivia Jones, who posted 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals for West Potomac. The game was Jones' third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Skylar Strother, who put up seven points and six boards.

Woodson's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for West Potomac, their win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2.

Looking ahead, Woodson will face off against South County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Potomac, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lake Braddock at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Potomac is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season.
