Recap: Los Fresnos Falcons vs. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Los Fresnos Falcons can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo on Friday, falling 35-7. Los Fresnos was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pharr-San Juan-Alamo apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September.
Robert Pineda threw for 103 yards and a touchdown. Lucky Perales was his top target, picking up 70 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Gael Palestina rushed for 75 yards.
It was another big night for Jaime Lopez, who threw for 275 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Tony Gomez did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Los Fresnos to a paltry 209 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out 4.5 times before it was all said and done. Jorge Rios was especially locked on to Los Fresnos' QB and sacked him twice.
Los Fresnos has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Los Fresnos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will face off against Brennan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Brennan is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
