Basketball Recap: Elkin Comes Up Short

Elkin was the 75-61 winner over East Wilkes when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Elkin Buckin' Elks were outmatched by the East Wilkes Cardinals and fell 73-40.

Elkin's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for East Wilkes, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.

Elkin and East Wilkes could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Elkin will square off against Watauga at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 247 places (392 vs. 145). Meanwhile, East Wilkes (ranked 352nd) will meet South Stokes (ranked 85th) at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
