Basketball Game Preview: Columbus Falcons vs. Ridgeland Titans

The Columbus Falcons and the Ridgeland Titans will face off at 8:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Columbus comes in on 11 and Ridgeland on six.

On Thursday, Columbus was able to grind out a solid win over Callaway, taking the game 56-48. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Chargers are ranked 59th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Ridgeland strolled past Warren Central with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 61-44.

Columbus has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.4 points per game. As for Ridgeland, they pushed their record up to 25-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Columbus was able to grind out a solid win over Ridgeland when the teams last played back in January, winning 67-57. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Ridgeland's Phil Nelson, who went 13 of 23 on his way to 31 points and eight boards.
