Basketball Recap: Lexi Winrow's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Boone over Winter Park

Boone was the 42-40 winner over Winter Park when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Boone Braves fell to the Winter Park Wildcats 38-33. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Boone's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lexi Winrow, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 15 points. The dominant performance also gave Winrow a new career-high in rebounds (three). Elina Del Rosario was another key player, putting up seven points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Boone smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Winter Park can attribute much of their success to Ariel Lynn Pham, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Auria Mack, who put up six points.

Boone's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Winter Park, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Boone didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-32 win against Freedom on the 5th. As for Winter Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-25 loss against Colonial on the 5th.
