The Dyer County Choctaws are taking a road trip to take on the Arlington Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dyer County has five straight victories, Arlington has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Dyer County barely beat Westview the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Dyer County put the hurt on Westview with a sharp 17-3 win on Thursday. That looming 17-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Choctaws yet this season.

Katie Caldwell was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Kierstyn Ray was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Dyer County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westview only posted an OBP of .286.
Meanwhile, Arlington fell victim to Daphne and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Trojans, falling 11-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.
Arlington also got a good showing from Brooklyn Knight, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Knight has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
Dyer County pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Arlington, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5-1.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dyer County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Arlington struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dyer County couldn't quite get it done against Arlington when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can Dyer County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
