Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Takes a Loss

Cornerstone Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Bethel Christian Kings 79-44. The Crusaders were probably out for revenge after losing 78-49 to them when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Cornerstone Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Junior Delong, who posted 20 points. With that strong performance, Delong is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game. Jaxon Gwaltney was another key player, going 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points.

Bethel Christian found their leader in sophomore Joseph Kyababchian, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Those 25 points gave Kyababchian a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chidera Onyeka, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards.

Cornerstone Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Bethel Christian, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Cornerstone Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 75-35 loss against Santa Ana Valley on the 12th. As for Bethel Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-51 defeat against Calvary Baptist on the 12th.
