Volleyball Recap: St. Petersburg Extends Winning Streak to Four

St. Petersburg waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against The Villages Charter Buffalo.

Abigail Buffington paced St. Petersburg's offense, picking up 14 kills. Buffington got some help from Annika Xenakis and her 32 assists. Xenakis also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Maeve Overcast, racking up two apiece.

Despite the loss, The Villages Charter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anastasia Harding had nine digs and two aces.

St. Petersburg's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for The Villages Charter, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-6 record.

Looking ahead, St. Petersburg will face off against Osceola at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for The Villages Charter, they will challenge Montverde Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
