Football Recap: St. Mary's Piles Up the Points Against Empire + How To Watch

St. Mary put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Empire Ravens, posting a 48-0 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Knights just coasted through the last quarter.

A big part of St. Mary's win came down to the chemistry between Luke Horn and his top target Anthony Cannon. Horn threw for 453 yards and four TDs while picking up 16.2 yards per attempt while Cannon picked up 207 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 207 receiving yards gave Cannon a new career-high. Jason Espinoza made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

St. Mary's didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Empire to a completion percentage of just 37.5%. The team can thank EJ Hooks III for the heroic effort on defense: he. St. Mary's wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 64.3%.

St. Mary's didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Billy Lewis led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Hooks III got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

St. Mary's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Empire, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will welcome Mesquite at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Empire, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Douglas at 7:00 p.m.
