Basketball Recap: Grand Valley Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Grand Valley entered their tilt with Conneaut on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Everything went their way against the Conneaut Spartans as they made off with a 71-50 victory. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while the Spartans are ranked 734th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Conneaut still got an impressive performance from Noah Hamm, who posted 21 points. Davonte Harris was another key player, putting up eight points.

Grand Valley's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points over those games. As for Conneaut, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

Coming up, Grand Valley will be playing at home against Jefferson Area at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Grand Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Jefferson Area likes a good challenge. As for Conneaut, they will head out to take on St. John at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. John will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Conneaut surely won't give up without a fight.
