Softball Recap: Crestwood Takes a Loss

Crestwood had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-7 to make it four. They fell just short of the Dallas Mountaineers by a score of 2-1. The game marked the Comets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Brooke Lenahan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jorja Snyder was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

As for Dallas, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

On Dallas' side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: NINA BARROUK gave up only one earned run on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.

Looking ahead, Crestwood will take on Tunkhannock at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Dallas, they will challenge Wilkes-Barre at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolfpack have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.75 runs per game on average), something the Mountaineers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
