Baseball Game Preview: Harpeth Indians vs. Hickman County Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Harpeth will face off against Hickman County. The Indians will venture away from home to face off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Harpeth got the win against Hickman County by a conclusive 10-3. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Harpeth got a great performance from Hudson Clark as he struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Preston Merritt and Aaron Higgs did most of the damage at the plate: Merritt scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Higgs scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Harpeth is undefeated when Merritt posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise. Chance Ford was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Harpeth has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Hickman County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
