Basketball Recap: McAuley Catholic Comes Up Short

McAuley Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 52-40 to the Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavaliers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Jefferson Independent Day found their leader in sophomore Jack Twiss, who went 9-for-16 en route to 26 points and three steals. Twiss continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Will Twiss, who posted nine points and three steals.

McAuley Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Jefferson Independent Day, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-10.

McAuley Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they will face off against Early at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
