Football Game Recap: Weldon Chargers vs. Gates County Red Barons

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northampton County, The Weldon Chargers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They snuck past Gates County with a 20-14 win. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Weldon was the (much) better team in the second half.

Sylvester Witherspoon threw for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Ky'Saan Bevier was his top target, picking up 82 receiving yards. On the ground, Tamaues Person rushed for 55 yards.

Weldon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Gates County, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Weldon will head out on the road to face off against Wilson Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilson Prep will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Gates County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
