Softball Recap: Granger Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Granger dropped their record down to 10-6-1 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Cle Elum-Roslyn Warriors, falling 11-5. The Spartans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Cle Elum-Roslyn, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games.

For Cle Elum-Roslyn's part, Braylynn Halverson and Zaili Romig were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Halverson struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Romig struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Halverson has posted since April 3rd. At bat, Halverson went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Romig went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Romig is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Gwen Ellison was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Kretschman, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cle Elum-Roslyn beat Granger by a score of 13-12 later that day.
