Preview: Chapin Eagles vs. Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles
The Chapin Eagles will be playing at home against the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Chapin really took it to Newberry for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-27 win at home. The victory was just what Chapin needed coming off of a 81-27 loss in their prior match.
Chapin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reagan Haggard led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds. Haggard has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Freeman, who scored 12 points along with 9 steals.
Meanwhile, Gray Collegiate Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Denmark-Olar last Saturday, taking the game 45-35.
Gray Collegiate Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Karlee Phelps out in front who scored 11 points. Raina Mayers was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Chapin now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, the win also got them back to even at 2-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's contest: Chapin have been dynamite from deep this season, having only nailed 35.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Gray Collegiate Academy, though, as they've only made 16% of theirs this season.
