Sylmar won against Reseda last Friday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Grant Lancers an 18-0 shutout. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by 11 runs or more this season.
Cynthia Valadez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cristabel Carreon, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
