Volleyball Game Preview: Irving Tigers vs. Richardson Eagles

Irving is 0-10 against Richardson since November of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Richardson took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Irving, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with nine defeats in a row, Irving turned things around against Berkner on Tuesday. They blew past the Rams 3-0. The Tigers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since August 26th (when they won 3-0).

While Irving might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Berkner scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Richardson suffered their biggest loss since September 19th on Tuesday. They came up short against Wylie East, falling 3-0. The shutout was out of character for the Eagles seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.

The final score came out to 25-11, 25-13, 25-9.

Richardson's defeat dropped their record down to 22-17. As for Irving, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 5-17.

Irving suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Richardson when the teams last played back in September. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
