Softball Recap: Mona Shores Takes a Loss

Mona Shores lost a heartbreaker to Oakridge when they met back in April of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Wednesday. Mona Shores took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oakridge. The defeat continues a trend for the Sailors in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Grace Michelli was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Faught, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Michelli wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Mona Shores lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Mona Shores' loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Oakridge, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mona Shores will host Grand Haven at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oakridge, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Oakridge Eagles challenge West Catholic Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
