Football Game Preview: Welch Wildcats vs. Oaks-Mission Warriors

The Welch Wildcats will head out to challenge the Oaks-Mission Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Welch challenged South Coffeyville on Friday. The Wildcats took an 18-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. Having soared to a lofty 32 points in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oaks-Mission). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Watts 56-6. The game was the first time the Warriors have beaten the Engineers on their field since October 8, 2015.

The win got Oaks-Mission back to even at 3-3. As for Welch, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Everything came up roses for Welch against Oaks-Mission in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
