The Bret Harte Bullfrogs will challenge the Amador Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Tuesday, Bret Harte needed a bit of extra time to put away Calaveras. They skirted past the Red Hawks 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Jack Trent made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Trent was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Camacho, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 5-for-5. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Fox Darby, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Bret Harte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Amador, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Venture Academy 4-3 on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Buffaloes as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Dominic Fillmore was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Bret Harte's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Amador, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10-1.
Bret Harte took their win against Amador when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-5 score. Will the Bullfrogs repeat their success, or do the Buffaloes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
