Softball Preview: Murrieta Valley Nighthawks vs. Chaparral Pumas
For the second straight game, Murrieta Valley will face off against Chaparral. The Nighthawks will take on the Pumas at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Murrieta Valley turned things around against Chaparral on Friday. They blew past the Pumas 17-5. The Nighthawks not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 4th (when they won 17-1).
Charlotte Thayer looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tiffany Karg, who fired off two home runs, nine RBI, and three runs while going 5-for-5. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jessica Gonzalez, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one double.
Murrieta Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
