Basketball Recap: Nuiqsut Trapper Extends Winning Streak to Five

Nuiqsut Trapper had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They came out on top against the Alak Huskies by a score of 67-58. This was a revenge game for the Trappers: when they faced off against the Huskies back in January, they had to take a 54-31 defeat.

Alak's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Korey Ekak, who posted 20 points. Paul Okpeaha was another key player, putting up 20 points.

Nuiqsut Trapper's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points over those games. As for Alak, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Nuiqsut Trapper didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 92-46 defeat against Nunamiut on the 28th. As for Alak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 74-46 victory against Kali on the 28th.
