Basketball Recap: Phelps Takes a Loss

Phelps extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-3. They received a blow as they fell 83-68 to the Floyd Central Jaguars. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (65), the Hornets still had to take the loss.

As for Floyd Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.0 points over those games.

Floyd Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dylan Boyd, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 17 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Lucas Howard, who went 6-for-10 en route to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Phelps wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 91-70 loss against Breathitt County on the 12th. As for Floyd Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 97-60 victory against Betsy Layne on the 12th.
