Softball Game Preview: Smithtown East Bulls vs. Commack Cougars

The Smithtown East Bulls will head out on the road to face off against the Commack Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Smithtown East's win against Newfield wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulls had just enough and edged out the Wolverines 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the Bulls in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Commack put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Newfield get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Cougars' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

Sophia Emanuel was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Johnston, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Commack kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive contests.

Commack's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Smithtown East, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Smithtown East might still be hurting after the 11-3 loss they got from Commack when the teams last played back in April. Can the Bulls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
