The Clover Hill Cavaliers will take on the Prince George Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Clover Hill took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Richmond High School for the Arts with a sharp 18-2 victory. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Paige Marshall made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three). She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Clover Hill got a massive performance out of Analia Reyes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Reyes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alejandra Wittman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Clover Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .909. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Prince George waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Crimson Wave 15-2.
Like Clover Hill, Prince George also got a great game from a two-way player: Payton Finney. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over 4.2 innings pitched. Finney has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kacie Catlett, who went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Lexie Foster was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Prince George's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Clover Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Both Clover Hill and Prince George just can't seem to miss. The Cavaliers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Prince George struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
