It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Western had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Yorktown Tigers a 2-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won 14 matchups in a row.

Lucy George was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brynley Erb, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Western's victory bumped their record up to 27-3. As for Yorktown, they moved to 20-5 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Western will square off against Mississinewa at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. Yorktown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
