Basketball Recap: Woodson Takes a Loss

Woodson has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the South County Stallions. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cavaliers came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Stallions are ranked 67th).

Despite the loss, Woodson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kaylen Chilton went 6-for-13 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. Chilton has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. William Taylor was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

Woodson's defeat dropped their record down to 18-4. As for South County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Woodson nor South County have any future games scheduled.
