Softball Recap: Monticello Wins Going Away Against Goochland

Monticello never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past the Goochland Bulldogs 11-0. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Willow Barr, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dorothy Shoup, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Monticello and bumps their season record up to 10-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Goochland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Monticello will square off against Louisa County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 1.8, the Lions 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Goochland, they will challenge Amelia County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
