Preview: Rushville Lions vs. Columbus North Bull Dogs
Rushville is 0-4 against Columbus North since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Rushville Lions will look to defend their home court against the Columbus North Bull Dogs at 7:30 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.
Last Saturday, Rushville came up short against Connersville and fell 47-37.
Despite their defeat, Rushville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carly Senour, who scored ten points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Leonie Boyer, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Columbus North also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Bloomington North by a score of 51-44.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Olivia Johnson, who scored 11 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Sydney Johnson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Rushville bumped their record down to 7-15 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Columbus North, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's game: Rushville have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.2 threes per game. However, it's not like Columbus North struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.9 threes per game. Given Rushville's sizeable advantage in that area, Columbus North will need to find a way to close that gap.
Rushville suffered a grim 59-35 defeat to Columbus North in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Rushville, Lauren Barker (who went 8 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 3 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
