Baseball Recap: Damien Sets Scoring Season-High Against Yorba Linda

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Damien). They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Yorba Linda Mustangs on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Ethan Chavez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elius Kelly, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gino Tarzia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Damien hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yorba Linda struck out six times.

Damien's record is now 6-7. As for Yorba Linda, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Damien has already played their next matchup, a 6-3 victory against Etiwanda on the 7th. As for Yorba Linda, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 defeat against Crean Lutheran on the 9th.
