Melrose-Mindoro hadn't done well against Eleva-Strum recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Mustangs walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Cardinals. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Cardinals on their court since October 1, 2019.

Cooper Zeman paced Melrose-Mindoro's offense, picking up ten kills. Zeman got some help from Abby Heimdahl and her eight assists. Heimdahl was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Melrose-Mindoro's win bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Eleva-Strum, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

Coming up, Melrose-Mindoro will welcome Independence/Gilmanton at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indees will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eleva-Strum, they have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Neillsville on the 11th.
