Basketball Recap: Winnfield Comes Up Short

Winnfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 67-41 to the Merryville Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Panthers are ranked 58th).

Winnfield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Merryville, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

Winnfield and Merryville's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Winnfield and Mangham (who has only given up 28 points per game) will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Merryville and Bastrop (who has only given up 23.25 points per game) will meet at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday.
