Basketball Recap: Sonora Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

There's no place like home for Sonora, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 57-48 victory over the Escalon Cougars on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 54-50 on January 8th.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sonora to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jonathan Curran, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals Curran has posted since back in February of 2024. Quentin Solis was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Sonora smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matchups.

Sonora has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for Escalon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.

Sonora will head out to challenge Orestimba at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sonora is facing Orestimba at the right time seeing as Orestimba is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Escalon, they will welcome Hilmar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
