Kokomo and Logansport are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Wildkats will venture away from home to take on the Berries at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kokomo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Kokomo came up short against Western and fell 5-2. The Wildkats have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Kokomo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amirah Marciniak, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Logansport got themselves on the board against Peru on Tuesday, but Peru never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Berries, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Logansport let Gracie Risley and Adrienne Scott run wild. Risley went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while Scott went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Lucy Gordon was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Logansport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Kokomo's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Logansport, their record is now 13-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Kokomo hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Logansport struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Kokomo couldn't quite finish off Logansport in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Wildkats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
