Basketball Game Preview: Midlothian Panthers vs. Crandall Pirates

The Midlothian Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Crandall Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Midlothian will be strutting in after a win while Crandall will be coming in after a loss.

It was a proper cat-fight when Midlothian duked it out withCorsicana on Tuesday. Midlothian blew past Corsicana, posting a 59-31 victory. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Tigers are ranked 813th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Crandall's game on Tuesday was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kaufman. While the Pirates didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lions 15-10 in the first quarter.

Midlothian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-13. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Crandall, they now have a losing record at 15-16.

Midlothian beat Crandall 57-44 in their previous matchup on January 7th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Midlothian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
