Basketball Recap: Fountain Valley Comes Up Short

Fountain Valley has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 25 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They took a 59-45 bruising from the Peyton Panthers. The loss was the Danes' first of the season.

Despite the loss, Fountain Valley still got an impressive performance from Ke Shen, who posted 17 points. Those 17 points gave Shen a new career-high. Asa Almgren was another key player, putting up nine points.

Michael Perry was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 15 on his way to 18 points and eight assists for Peyton. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Gregg, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Fountain Valley fell to 3-1. As for Peyton, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.

Fountain Valley will face off against Manitou Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fountain Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season. As for Peyton, they will square off against Simla at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Simla's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
