Recap: Hampton Hornets vs. Lovett Lions
The Hampton Hornets lost against the Lovett Lions last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Hampton received a tough blow as they fell 62-46 to Lovett. Hampton has struggled against Lovett recently, as their game on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Lovett's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Casani Bartlett, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Bartlett scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Whitty, who scored 15 points along with five assists.
Hampton dropped their record down to 6-19 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Lovett, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-10.
Hampton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lovett, they will face off against McDonough at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in McDonough's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 13 matches.
