Baseball Recap: Newton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Heidelberg on Friday, Newton came back down to earth. Newton came up short against McLaurin on Saturday, falling 36-1. Newton has struggled against McLaurin recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for McLaurin, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Newton and McLaurin will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Tigers are set to face off against their familiar foe Pelahatchie at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, McLaurin will take on rival Jefferson Davis County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
