Hastings took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Platteview, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Trojans on Monday. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 8-2 victory the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Hastings' win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brody Dreher, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Dreher has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Hastings is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Platteview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Hastings has already played their next game, a 4-3 win against Seward on the 8th. As for Platteview, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-0 defeat against Adams Central on the 7th.
