Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Deer Valley

Deer Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They blew past the Agua Fria Owls 22-6. The Skyhawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Owls, too.

Giuliana Hughes made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Emelina Robles was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and three doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Samantha Romero was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Deer Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Deer Valley's record is now 11-13. As for Agua Fria, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Deer Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Owls: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
