Volleyball Recap: El Cerrito Comes Up Short

El Cerrito suffered their biggest loss since September 17th on Thursday. They came up short against the Head-Royce Jayhawks, falling 3-0. The Gauchos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jayhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2021.

The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-4, 25-11.

El Cerrito's offense was headlined by Sofia Romo and Augusta Hatfield, who picked up four kills apiece. They were helped by Zhane Giles and Angelina Franklin, who contributed five assists each.

El Cerrito's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Head-Royce, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

The future could be bright for both El Cerrito and Head-Royce: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Gauchos will try to hand Albany their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Head-Royce will look to extend Brave Christian's seven-game losing streak when they meet at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
