Basketball Recap: Paulding County Skates Past South Paulding with Ease

Paulding County won the last time they faced South Paulding and things went their way on Saturday too. The Paulding County Patriots claimed a resounding 73-42 victory over the South Paulding Spartans. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 29 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Alexus Wilson, who went 9 of 18 on her way to 22 points in addition to eight assists and six boards. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Johnson, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 14 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Wilson wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Paulding County was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2023.

South Paulding's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lindsey Henry, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. Henry is becoming a predictor of South Paulding's success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Cox, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 10 points and seven rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Paulding County and bumps their season record up to 10-3. As for South Paulding, they dropped their record down to 4-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Paulding County will take on McEachern in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Paulding County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season. South Paulding and Villa Rica will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
