Softball Recap: Brandon Gets the Win

Brandon came out on top against Germantown on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Mavericks. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Mavericks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Evie Pickard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Hannah Jo Sullivan was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Brandon's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Germantown, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brandon will welcome Newton County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Germantown, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Loyd Star at 6:30 p.m. The Mavericks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
