Basketball Recap: Wes Dewitt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Park City over Hillcrest

Park City lost against Hillcrest back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Park City Miners might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Hillcrest Huskies an easy 73-53 victory. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Huskies are ranked 20th).

Park City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wes Dewitt, who posted ten points. Luke Rice was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points.

Hillcrest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anton Mahler led the charge by putting up 18 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Mahler, who put up 13 points along with six boards and five assists.

Park City has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Hillcrest, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Park City and Judge Memorial Catholic will round out the year against one another at at 1:45 p.m. on December 30th. As for Hillcrest, they will venture away from home to take on Olympus at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th. Hillcrest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.6 points per game this season.
