Basketball Game Preview: Scotus Shamrocks vs. Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders

The Scotus Shamrocks will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Scotus is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against St. Cecilia. The Shamrocks took down the Bluehawks 50-32 on Thursday.

Among those leading the charge was Carson Wessel, who shot 55% from the field to rack up 14 points. Another player making a difference was Karsten Killham, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Grand Island Central Catholic beat Norfolk Catholic 44-39 on Saturday.

Grand Island Central Catholic's win came from a few key players Scotus will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Isaac Urbanski, who went 6-for-12 en route to 13 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Braylon Wolfe was another key player, putting up 15 points and seven boards.

Scotus couldn't quite get it done against Grand Island Central Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2024 as they fell 50-41. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Crusaders' Thomas Birch, who shot 59% from the field on his way to 23 points and four steals.
