Softball Preview: South Knox Spartans vs. North Posey Vikings

South Knox is 2-8 against North Posey since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Vikings at 5:30 p.m.

South Knox is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They fell 6-2 to Princeton.

North Posey's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Evansville Reitz on Friday. Everything went the Vikings' way against Tell City as they made off with a 10-3 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by seven runs or more this season.

Alyssa Heath was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Taryn Wilson was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Lavanchy, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

North Posey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

South Knox's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for North Posey, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
