Baseball Recap: Marathon Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

It's playoff time, and Marathon had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Glades Day Gators a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Dolphins have won 12 contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Bryan Broche, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jason Stubblefield Jr., who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Broche wasn't the only one making solid contact: Marathon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.

Marathon is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Glades Day, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-11 record.

As of now, neither Marathon nor the Gators have any future games scheduled.
