It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Gunn ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Fremont Firebirds 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Alex Denoel made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Tess Bogart was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Gunn now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Fremont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gunn will venture away from home to take on Silver Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Fremont will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Monta Vista at 3:30 p.m. on March 21st. The match will give Fremont their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
