Softball Game Preview: Maiden Blue Devils vs. Bunker Hill Bears

The Maiden Blue Devils will take on the Bunker Hill Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Maiden can't be too happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Wednesday. They lost 14-1 to North Lincoln. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since March 12, 2025.

Meanwhile, Bunker Hill made easy work of Hickory on Wednesday and carried off a 20-4 win.

Kyra Ryhal and Serena Thurman did most of the damage at the plate: Ryhal got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI, while Thurman went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three doubles. That's the most stolen bases Thurman has posted since back in April of 2025. Alexis Stuebe was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Maiden skirted past Bunker Hill 4-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
